Toybox Racing – for immediate release!
We have some important news to share regarding Toybox Racing and the upcoming Can-Am Mini Challenge race. Regrettably, due to business commitments, Nick Swift will not be able to attend the event. Nick was very much looking forward to competing in the Fortech Mini, and socializing with Mini racers at Sonoma. To quote Nick Swift: “It is with great regret that I must announce that I will not be able to attend the Can-Am Mini Challenge. Unfortunately, my commitment to ongoing Swiftune projects and customers has overruled my plans to race at this truly wonderful event. Ali and I had such an amazing time at the 2014 meeting; both of us remembering it as “the best race weekend ever!” My sincere apologies go to Andy and Rachel Nelson after all the hard work they’ve put in to planning our trip and pushing hard to make the Fortech Mini the fastest it’s ever been. I wish all the competitors at the 2017 Can-Am challenge the very best of luck at the race.” Nick has been instrumental to our 2017 racing season efforts, and we wish him every success. Nick’s absence is only a “rain check”: when a suitable event arises in the future, we are very much looking forward to him driving a Toybox Racing Mini again.
At this time we are thrilled to announce that a replacement driver for the Fortech Mini has been secured. It is with great pleasure that we welcome the legendary Doug Peterson to the Toybox Racing team! Doug will be reunited with the Fortech Mini, and will be defending his 2009 Can-Am Mini Challenge title against some very stiff competition. It is an enormous honor to have Doug on our team, and we are currently developing the Fortech Mini to ensure it is ready for him to challenge the best and the fastest Minis at Sonoma. Andy Nelson comments: “I anticipate the competition will be tougher than ever this year, and it’s going to be an extremely tight race for a podium spot. We are not discounting anybody from the equation. However, Doug’s phenomenal driving skills and knowledge of the Fortech Mini are a massive boost to our team, and I’m happy with our preparations so far with both of the cars. I think we’re in a strong position to successfully challenge for the win.”
As always, Minis rule!
